On December 23 last year (local
time), at the 58th United Nations General
Conference our country proposed a motion
which was joined by 141 nations for the
holding of a "United Nations World Conference
on Disaster Reductionモ. The motion was
carried by the entire assembly. Accordingly
this became United Nations World Conference
on Disaster Reduction which was held in
our country in January 2005 on the 10th
anniversary of the Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake.
